So when are you flying out to your university? I am sure you are pretty much excited and can’t wait to start this new phase of your life. Living away from home, adulting, and having fun is all that you know about university life other than studying hard and getting high grades. Well, the first week of university is a little different than what they show in the movies.
Wondering what it looks like? Here are four things you should know about the first week at university:
1. You will feel homesick all week long
If you’ve never stayed away from your family until now, you are going to feel very homesick. But don’t let it get the best of you because you are there for something important, that is going to change your life so much. Don’t beat yourself down, as days go by, you’ll trust your decision more.
2. It is really difficult
Adjusting to a place you have never visited even once in your life is doing to be difficult. But something has to be difficult for you to get a sense of achievement after overcoming it. You are going to find something as simple as finding a restaurant to eat a bit difficult. You will enter this zone where even moving your hand will be difficult. But, hold on tight, a few days, and you’ll be doing just fine.
3. Struggle with finances
The first couple of months are always the costliest. As you get to things around, you will start saving more. If you already have a budget in place, don’t worry if you aren’t meeting the standards.
4. You will get your limits tested
Everything is different and you will struggle with the rules out there. But once you socialize with locals, they will help you out and you will no more feel the stress or pressure. This process of becoming independent is difficult, but it is worth everything.
