The Visa Queen: Sushma Swaraj, External Affairs Minister of India

There is no one who doesn’t admire Sushma Swaraj. The External Affairs Minister of India, often dubbed as the Iron Lady of India, is known for going out of the way and helping people with visa issues. You might have read several articles until now about how she helped people. All you have to do is tweet her your visa problem and if she thinks it is genuine and you need help, she tweets back to you and gets your work done instantly.

A Pakistani woman had tweeted the External Affairs Minister of India on August 22, 2017, that she is getting married to an Indian national and has already applied for an Indian visa. Her wedding date got preponed and the Indian embassy in Pakistan won’t approve the visa earlier. She said that she knows it takes time for the visa process. The young woman also said that her family has completed all hope and don’t know what to do about her impending wedding ceremony. She was getting married on September 20.

The External Affairs Minister of India replied her instantly saying that India doesn’t decline visas for its daughters and daughters-in-law. And that’s how she again helped someone who was in need of a visa. Sushma Swaraj is known for sanctioning medical visas to Pakistanis. She has also helped many NRIs stuck in foreign countries to get a visa to come back to India.

A kind act during Diwali

Sushma Swaraj is definitely not one of those who just sends across Diwali wishes. She loves to send gifts and surprises as well. This year, as a Diwali gift, she approved 431 pending medical visa applications of Pakistani nationals. Previously, the External Affairs Minister also helped a young Pakistani woman visit her ailing father in a Delhi hospital. She had applied for a visa but it wasn’t getting accepted. She tweeted her problem to Swaraj and she got one instantly.
