Here are some things you need to know about the UK student visa if you are considering it as a country of your choice:
1. Type of student visas
There is a short-term visa if you are 18 years and above and want to study for only six months. You can extend it to 11 months for an English language course. Tier 4 visa is for longer duration courses. Tier 4 (Child) student visa is valid for children between four to 17 years of age to study in an independent school in the UK. Tier 4 (General) student visa is for students above 16 years of age.
2. Student visa requirements
Student visas in the UK are point based. You get the visa if you get enough points. Here are some things required to apply for a UK student visa:
- Passport details
- Recent passport size photograph
- A confirmed letter of acceptance from the university you are going to study at
- A proof that you’ve passed an English proficiency test
- Proof of financial support
By financial support, it means that you should give a proof in form of a bank statement that you have £1,015 per month if you are studying out of London in the UK. If you are studying in London, you need to show £1,265 a month in your bank account.
3. Visa costs
Tier 4 general student visa costs £328. Short term study visa for six months costs £89 and £170 for 11 months. You have to pay an additional £150 annual fees for a health insurance to get covered under National Health Security.
