- The selection factor for the FSW program depends on the above points as well as the application, which will consider the following factors –
- Age
- Education

- How well you can settle in Canada
Along with this, there are several other conditions to be met to shift to Canada successfully. You can easily find this on Government of Canada’s official site.
FSW 2020: The Top Things to Expect
With the Government making it easier for people to shift to Canada permanently, expectations have shot up. Here I have tried to enlist a few changes that might take place in the IRCC Canada FSW for the year 2020 –
-
Increase in the number of immigrants
Canada has undoubtedly built a name for itself as a haven for refugees and immigrants. The Government plans to welcome 3,30,000 permanent residents in 2019 from the earlier 3,10,000 in 2018. This number is further going to increase to 3,40,000 in 2020. In total, the IRCC is planning to welcome more than 1 million immigrants in Canada by 2021.
Under its Family Class Program, the Government plans to welcome more than 2,60,000 spouses, parents and grandparents.
2. Immigration to Atlantic Canada
Under the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program (AIPP), the Government aims to retain skilled immigrants in Atlantic Canada. Every applicant under this plan will have a job offer in place and a settlement plan for themselves and their family when they arrive.
The Government has set a target of 2000 applications for 2019, and it is supposed to increase to 4000 by 2020 for FSW 2020.
3. Sponsoring a Spouse or a Child
Getting your Spouse or your child to any foreign country could be an uphill task. However, the Canadian Government has made this easy for you as well. They also provide work permits for your spouse!
The Government plans to extend applications up to 68,000 for 2019 and further 70,000 for 2020. It would help if you made sure that the types of relatives for permanent residency are minimal. Hence it would be best if you thought twice before applying for PR for any of your relatives.
4. Parents and Godparents Program (PGP)
As per a tweet posted by IRCC on its official handle on Twitter
‘In 2019, we will accept 20,000 applications for the Parents and Grandparents (PGP) Program. Potential sponsors will be selected based on the order in which we receive their interest to sponsor form.’
This move is being carried out to reunite more families in Canada. Intending to improve client experience, the Government is taking several steps to streamline the applications intake process. With the randomised selection process for applications being widely denounced, one needs to see what will be the Government’s next step.
5. Refugees and Protected Persons
Several Government-assisted refugees and resettled refugees would also get an equal chance to apply in 2020. The intake for the same would be increased to 29, 950 and 9,300 respectively.
Privately sponsored refugees and those referred by the Blended Visa Office would be welcome applications by 19,000 and 1,650 respectively. In short, refugees would be eligible to enter Canada based on their use without having to worry about being left out.
6. Federal Economic Programs
These programs are under the Express Entry system which includes the Federal Skilled Worker Class Program, Canadian Experience Class and Federal Skilled Trades Class.
The majority of the people to be admitted under this FSW 2019 program are set to get admittance as Economic migrants (approximately 58%) at the federal and provincial levels.
FSW 2020: Time to Start Preparing!
One thing missing in the several strategies to be adopted by the Canadian Government in 2020 is the provision for Temporary Foreign Workers and International Students.
