Stanley Cup title betting odds continue to shift at sportsbooks as the NHL season is underway.
Even though winning the Stanley Cup is one of the toughest things to do in sports, there only seems to be a handful of teams that can get it done this year. There might be some parity in the NHL this season, but not for the top teams.
Four teams have emerged as Stanley Cup betting favorites, and you must know why these teams are the betting favorites. Even though these four teams are the favorites, there is still plenty of value in a bet on any team.
Colorado Avalanche (+650)
If you have followed the NHL in recent years, you would know that the Colorado Avalanche has been loaded on talent. Colorado has been the title favorite in the last two years but has not even reached the Stanley Cup Finals.
Nathan MacKinnon leads the Avalanche on the offensive end of the ice, and Cole Makar is one of the best defensive players in the league. Colorado is not one of the better teams in the NHL, but the talent is too hard to ignore.
Florida Panthers (+850)
The Florida Panthers got off to a fast start to the 2021-22 season, but they have also been dealing with issues off of the ice. Head coach Joel Quenneville due to his role in covering up the sexual assault of a player while coaching the Chicago Blackhawks in 2020, and will likely have an impact on the title run for Florida.
Florida has followed the path of Colorado in that they have been acquiring as much young talent as possible. The Panthers might still be a year or two away from being a major force, but Florida has what it takes to go on a big run in the postseason.
Tampa Bay Lightning (+850)
The Lightning has won two straight Stanley Cup titles, which is almost unheard of today. Tampa Bay has not gotten off to a great start this season, especially with Nikita Kucherov injured longer term once again, but this team can turn things on in a hurry.
Teams in the Eastern Conference have gotten better in the last few years, making things more challenging for the Lightning. With that said, few teams have as much championship pedigree as Tampa Bay, and you can expect to see them in the mix once the playoffs begin.
Vegas Golden Knights (+1000)
Since coming into the league as an expansion team, the Vegas Golden Knights have been a constant force in the Western Conference. Vegas has not yet been able to win a Stanley Cup title, but they have been close several times.
The Golden Knights can score better than most teams in the league, and they just added Jack Eichel to the mix. Vegas won’t be a fun team to deal with for opposing goaltenders once this team gets healthy, but there are still some flaws for this team as well.
