This election, Americans have been focusing on the negative impact of immigration instead of focusing on US immigration reforms. Recent studies from the Partnership for a New American Economy, the National Foundation for American Policy and the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine and the Partnership for a New American Economy has shown the need with demand for high skilled immigration policy.

If immigrants who are highly skilled, is not streamlined then it could lead to American businesses being at a disadvantage in the worldwide economy.

With US immigration reforms comes new ideas, new companies, and new jobs, which benefit the local and national economy.

Current State Of US Immigration Reforms

Currently in the States, there are more highly skilled jobs than there are people to fill them. In Utah alone, in 2014 there were around 19,651 STEM jobs and only 1,336 STEM workers who were unemployed.

There are over 7,000 immigrant STEM workers in the state, who work within the high-tech industries. Studies have shown that with for every 100 foreign STEM graduates from US universities some 262 jobs would be created. As the population gets older and retires from working life, it becomes even more important to have for immigrants with particular skills in order to be able to fill jobs.

There have recently been attempts in Congress to stifle US immigration reforms to reduce levels of highly skilled immigrants coming into the States, but this would actually hamper economic growth, job creation, and entrepreneurship. Academics have stated that to boost the economic growth of America, there should be more H1-B Visas and Green Cards. Immigrants bring fresh new ideas, highly skilled staff, pay large amounts of tax and support the community, by buying goods and services, attending schools and colleges etc. US immigration reforms will help America to tap into the highly skilled foreign nationals who want to come and work and live in America.
