Sylvan lake has a lot of locations in town where you can hire boats, but we prefer Sun Sports Recreation because they have a wide selection of boats and sea-doos for you to pick from.
Gathering a few close friends together for quality time on the water can be a lot of fun at Sylvan lake. Make it a point to challenge yourself by participating in an unfamiliar activity such as skiing or wakeboarding. You and your pals may engage in some friendly rivalry by racing about on jet skis or sea doos you have rented, which is another option.
Since boats at sylvan lake normally cost some dollars per hour to rent, it is in your best interest to find some companions who are interested in sharing the expense with you. One of the most enjoyable things to do at sylvan lake and on the water during the summer is boating on Sylvan Lake.

If you are searching for a lovely, relaxed walk – maybe while holding an ice cream cone! It is highly recommended that you travel to the town of Sylvan Lake Marina. Seeing all the boats moored and taking in the sights is a lot of fun. Especially when it has an exceptional quality like that of Sylvan Star Cheese. This farm, owned and operated by a single family, has provided the neighbourhood with award-winning gouda cheese since it opened its doors in 1995.
They are situated not far from Sylvan Lake, on the winter road leading to Red Deer in Alberta. You are welcome to take a tour of the small town of the farm where the cheese is produced to understand the production process better.
Undoubtedly, at Sylvan lake, sampling some cheese and purchasing some to take away is the highlight of the experience. Not only do they provide their award-winning lactose-free gouda, but they also offer mozzarella, cheddar, raclette, and many other kinds of cheese.
The cheese that comes straight from the farm to the table is out of this world. You will have time to thank me afterwards!
6. Mini Golf and Go-Karts
Lakeside Go-Karts & Mini Golf is the best and most beautiful location to visit at Sylvan lake if you and your loved ones seek a place to spend quality time together and have some laughs. They may be reached easily at Sylvan lake on foot from the central business district of Sylvan Lake since they are situated right next to the water.
You’ll feel like a child again at Sylvan lake as you race around the track in your go-kart or bumper car with all the other drivers, and you’ll have a great time doing it! In addition, you’ll get the opportunity to practice your swing on their miniature golf course, which has 18 holes.
It’s a low-cost approach to doing something enjoyable for a little time. This is, without a doubt, one of the most enjoyable activities that can be enjoyed by children and adults alike in Sylvan Lake.
7. Camping at Jarvis Provincial Park
One of the best locations to stay in is the Jarvis Bay Provincial Park, among the many wonderful options available for upcoming events. Overnight camping accommodations and a visit to Sylvan lake are the ideal way to enjoy being in nature and near the lake while being within a reasonable distance of town for access to shopping, dining, and other conveniences.
The camping area is linked to a trail network that guests may use for hiking and bicycling, and it also provides spots for tents, trailers, and RVs. It provides everything you may want, including fire pits, electricity, flush toilets, and drinkable water. Additionally, there is a playground for children, making this an outstanding choice for families!
You can get some nice lake views from the campsite amenities, but if you want to go swimming or access the water, you’ll have to drive over to the main beach at Sylvan Lake.
8. Visit a Local Brewery
A vacation to a lakeside town at the Sylvan lake isn’t complete without at least one sample of the local beer. You should taste some award-winning craft beer at the Snake Lake Brewing Company in Sylvan Lake.
You may stop by their tasting room any day of the week to sample a pint, flight, or growler fill, or you can fill up a growler to go and take it with you when you leave. Their Prairie Dreams New England Pale Ale and Ice Cutter Vanilla Latte Stout are two of the best beers to enjoy throughout the warm summer.
Thursday nights at Snake Lake Brewing include live music, so stop by if you’re in the area! What could be more enjoyable than going out on a Thursday evening at 7 o’clock to check out some local talent while having a beer?
9. Obee’s Pizza
It is just a few streets away from the beach, and it s known for having the most delicious pizza and pasta in tradition; they have a deal where you can have both of your meals for the price of one, so you can eat as much as you want!
A family runs this small company, and they produce all of the dough and sauces on the premises. In addition to pizza, they provide other Italian specialties such as spaghetti, ribs, donairs, wings, and panzerotti, a savoury turnover similar to a calzone originating in Italy. After spending the whole day outdoors by the lake, you can count on this establishment to satisfy your cravings.
10. Big Moo Ice Cream
After all that pizza, you’ll want something cold and creamy to finish it! We’ve got you to eat ice cream in the cold. Visit and explore the Big Moo Ice Cream Parlour, which can be found near the shore of Sylvan Lake. They provide some of the most delicious ice creams in the area; thus, you should get the cone with three scoops and sample flavours like Nanaimo brownie, caramel candy apple, and paradise rainbow.
Because they provide a wide variety of gluten-free alternatives and dairy-free sorbets, this restaurant does have something that will appeal to every customer.
Oh, and if you went to Sylvan Lake but didn’t snap the famous picture with the Moo Cow, did you go to Sylvan Lake?!
11. Nightlife
The fact that enjoying the nightlife is one of the top things to do in Sylvan Lake should not come on the car as a surprise, given that it is a popular vacation destination for people from Alberta and visitors from other places. Lakeshore Drive is the major roadway that runs along the ocean and is filled with places to grab a drink or go out dancing – this area is packed on the weekends because of this!
At sylvan lake Fire pit, Buckwildz, and Chief’s Pub & Eatery are three of the most frequented restaurants and bars in the area. But to tell you the truth, all you have to do is put on your favourite clothing and amenities and go out the door; you won’t have any trouble locating a crowded bar where you can have a drink and enjoy a night out on the town!
12. Riding a Bicycle
Biking is a fun and effective method to become acquainted with a new location, and Sylvan Lake is no exception. There are a few locations in all towns where you can hire bicycles, and the cost is reasonable. After that, you may ride your bike around the lake, taking in the scenery and getting some fresh air.
Make sure to have a picnic lunch with you if you decide to stop somewhere and eat it. Getting about town and to the beach on two wheels is another viable transportation option. During the busier months of spring and summer, parking is quite restricted and might be difficult to locate. Therefore, riding a bike is the ideal answer!
13. Alberta’s Caesar
During your time at Sylvan Lake, if you need another excuse to stop at a bar for a drink, here it is: Buckwildz serves an award-winning Caesar cocktail, and you must taste it! Several years ago, the winner of the prize at the Calgary Stampede Mott’s Clamato competition was Kjery Dakin, who later established Buckwildz. We know it’s doing fairly well when we beat out competitors throughout the province.
Try some of their delectable meals while you’re at Buckwildz sipping on your caesar, such as their burgers, steak, poutine, and deep-fried Oreos to top it all off! The Buckwildz in Sylvan Lake is a popular place for residents and visitors alike because of its very attractive and spacious terrace that overlooks the water.
14. Axe Throwing
You wouldn’t imagine that going on vacation to a lake would lead to you learning how to throw axes like a lumberjack, would you? However, I can assure you that you will have a wonderful day. The Wood Shed Axe Throwing is a fantastic location to go with a group of friends and is ranked the number one group activity in Sylvan Lake.
It is situated just a little outside the downtown area’s centre and is a great spot to throw axes. Axe throwing is available on eight different lanes, each with digitized lanes and interactive targets that keep track of your results. In addition, they have instructors that can instruct you in the proper technique and provide you with hints and suggestions.
You are welcome to bring your food into Wood Shed, allowing you to pick up something delicious from one of the restaurants in the neighbourhood. On-site services include the provision of soda, alcoholic drinks, and lighter fare.
Prices change depending on the time of day at this lake, and every time there is a new thing to see and the number of persons participating, but if you have a small group of 2-4 throwers, you may expect to pay less. Because it is an inside sport, giving Axe Throwing a try is ideal in Sylvan Lake while it is raining because it is a fun way to pass the time.
15. Holiday in an Amazing Home
Camping has been considered a potential option for overnight accommodations; however, a home or cabin in such a lovely setting would be far more desirable. Thanks to vacation rental websites such as VRBO and Airbnb, it is much simpler to discover breathtaking locations.
You get the opportunity to learn something new while also benefiting from the conveniences of an environment similar to your homes, such as having access to a kitchen, bathroom, and beds.
